A Brief Description of the Issue

Plastic straws have been around for decades.  Due to pollution of plastics, and climate change, the environment has been suffering.

We have a problem because we can't recylce plastic straws.  We also shouldn't send plastic straws to the landfill.  So what do we do with them Straws are too lightweight to be recycled.  They are often thrown in the trash. Most of the time, while the garbage cans are waiting for the trucks to come, they blow out of the garbage can and blow into a river or stream, which leads into the ocean, polluting it. Straws take 200 years to decompose if they make it to a landfill.  If they make it to the ocean, marine life often thinks it's food.  That can cause the animal to die sometimes.  Othertimes, it stays in their stomachs and then we eat those fish, and we could get sick.
